let me tell you about
The Photographer Behind the Camera
My name is Monika. I am a wife and a mum of two wonderful daughters. Photography has always been close to my heart and has been part of my family for generations, long before it became my own creative journey. I'm based in Morecambe, Lancashire, and provide photography sessions in Morecambe, Lancaster, Heysham, and the surrounding areas. If you're located further away, feel free to get in touch for a personalised quote.
My grandmother loved photography, and my dad did too. He used to take photos and even had a small darkroom in our basement where he developed them himself. No one in my family did photography professionally, but I followed in their footsteps and decided to take it one step further – to share my passion with others and offer my photography services to people outside my family and circle.
I have been holding a camera for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would place the camera on a dresser, set the self‑timer and take photos of myself. I photographed everything at home, my family and my friends. At school, I was always “that person” with a camera – capturing everyday school life, trips and special moments. I’m pretty sure my classmates were very lucky to have me, because to this day they have an incredible visual memory of those times 🙂
For a long time, I didn’t even know which side of the camera I preferred to be on. I loved taking photos, but I also enjoyed being in front of the lens. Thanks to that, I truly understand how it feels to stand in front of a camera, especially when feeling nervous or unsure. I know how uncomfortable it can be to pose in front of someone you don’t know – and that’s why I always focus on creating a calm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere during my sessions.
I don’t work from a traditional photography studio. My sessions take place outdoors or in my home, which actually gives me much more freedom and flexibility. Home sessions are not a lack of professionalism – they are a conscious choice. Natural light, familiar surroundings and comfort make it easier to capture real emotions and authentic moments. My portfolio shows that beautiful, high‑quality images don’t require a “perfect studio”, just the right eye, light and connection.
I am constantly developing my skills and investing in learning. Photography is my passion and creative outlet. Alongside it, I work full‑time in an office role within a large company in the hospitality industry. This means that photography is something I do because I genuinely love it, not because I have to.
I am a calm person who prefers peaceful surroundings over busy city life, but at the same time I truly enjoy talking to people and building connections. I always give 100% of myself to every session, striving to make each one unique and tailored to the people in front of my camera. Happy clients and their positive feedback are the greatest reward for me.
If you’re looking for a photographer who captures moments with care, patience and heart, I would be truly honoured to preserve your essential moments.
